Last Crusade is a new boot boy rocking fucking Oi!band out there. Hailing from the UK and having a 7" out and gigs lined up their future looks bright. And guess what? They seem well sussed too.
You guys are new to me –
when did you start up? You got a 7” in the making, what more is planned for
2015?
Mike started us off in mid 2014 with Ben then Karl joined then Karl found me (Ralph I guess?/ed.). We have a 7 out and we just plan on doing a split with another band and do a few gigs and maybe a couple more releases.
Some of you have been in hardcorebands before right? Still active in any?
A couple of us have been in hc bands weve all done stuff before but nothing that is still going or worth talking about.
Somewhere I saw you guys describde as oldschool oi! Wich made me a bit curious… to me old school oi! is like Business, 4-skins etc and you guys are way more scruffy and raw in a different way…and I like it! What´s your thoughts on this? I also recognise a noisy rock´n´rollvibe on some of the guitar parts which reminds me a bit of the kind of heavily distorted punkrock´n´roll that was so popular in Sweden in the nineties, do you like bands like (early) Hellacopters and New bomb turks for example?
I like to describe us as boot boy rock n roll our influences are pretty diverse and we all bring something different to the table. But scruffy and raw sounds good to me (yeah was totally meant in a good way mate/ed.). We do like to have an element of rock n rollvibe stuff Rose tattoo, Jook etc but i cant say ive listened to those 2 bands.
Are you all true motherfucking skinheads? Whats your thoughts on the subculture and subcultures in general?
We certainly
are. The subculture is brilliant its a great way to make friends and have a
laugh (friends? ”oh friend!”, don´t ya love The Inbetweeners?/ed.). You can meet
some 1 at a gig and it is almost like you've known them for ages and i,m sure
its the same with other subcultures too.
How´s the current state of affairs in th UK scene? Are the hardcore and oi! coming more together (or is it just the hardcore kids growing up a bit and/or secretly admiring the handsome skins in the oi! bands)?
The oi! scene has got a bit smaller.
But it is on the rise again. Hardcore and oi! is coming together and I do think
it is a mix of hardcore kids getting older and some being secret admirers of us
pretty skins in oi! bands. A lot of hardcore and oi! is very similar. Oi! has
always played a big part in hardcore. But the 2 scenes look like they are
beginning to mix a bit more.
A problem I have with alot of the last 10-15 years ”new” UK oi! is that so many go for the Condemned 84+metal sound… do you like this sound?
Not really.
We are trying to steer away from that sort of thing. That is why we have the
sound that we do. We try to take a bit more sound from the proto oi! stuff like
Menace and Slaughter & the Dogs too (right fucking on, thats the way I
reckon!/ed.).
Do you read The Sun?
Do we fuck! Hence the song Morally bankrupt.
Are you all proud to be brittish? Why?
We are indeed for many reasons it's our home and it's the birth place of skinhead, punk and oi!!! (can´t really argue with that know can we/ed.)
What are your favorite bands at the moment? Any you played with often that you consider your ”bruvva band”?
I don't really have a favorite at the moment. But im sure many would agree that Lions Law are brilliant. We haven´t played many gigs yet but I'd say Crown court are our brother band they are good friends (”oh friend” - sorry/ed.) of ours, pretty much the same age and they make some good music. Also we have come on to the scene roughly at the same time. Crown Court came a few months before though.
I think Liverpool Football club is the greatest footie club of all time. Do you agree?
No. I don't follow football much these days but if I did i would say Derby County. Sheep Shag Army!!!!!!
Whats the biggest problem with todays society you think?
Well things like The Sun and other bullshit media turning the world into brainwashed fools and all these corrupt MPs that use this bullshit media to their advantage by blaming our problems on the sick and poor (correct fucking answer that is!/ed.).
Are there a lot of herberts at Oi! gigs in the UK?
There are a few but as many as punk or hardcore gigs.
Final words for the punk n´oi! lovers out there?
